The 1940s weekend at Cholsey & Wallingford Railway

Experience the 1940s and the Second World War with authentic re-enactors, Home Guard, allied forces, learn all about rationing, Special Operations and Home Front displays along with 1940s singers and vintage vehicles. Can you spot the camouflaged sniper and be sure to keep an eye out for any illicit black-market deals happening at the station.

The 1940s Royal Family, King George VI, Queen Elizabeth, Young Princesses Elizabeth (in Girl Guide uniform) and Princess Margaret, will be arriving by train. The Royal party will include Her Majesty's Detective, Lady in Waiting along with the Princesses Governess Crawfie. Winston Churchill and Field Marshal Alan Francis Brooke will be arriving to greet the people of Wallingford, giving some stirring and famous speeches before mixing with the public, Churchill is always interested to hear how your war is going. Interact with over 100 re-enactors throughout the site, they'll be able to tell you their story and have a surprise or two for you.

Please note there will be no parking at Wallingford Station during the 40s weekend. It will also not be possible to join the train at Cholsey Station.
