Whilst it is intended to operate as advertised, all services, events and fares may be altered due to prevailing circumstances, with or without notice. Please telephone our recorded information line if you wish to check before arranging your visit.


Trains depart at the following times, unless advertised otherwise:

Facilities

Tickets may be purchased at either station. At Wallingford, there is a museum (temporarily closed for refurbishment until at least August) and souvenir shop with second-hand books and a good range of souvenirs. Light refreshments are available at the Trackside Café with adjoining picnic area. The station cafe is housed in this historic Cambrian &10;Railway coach

Parking is available at both stations, with free off-road parking at Wallingford.

Toilets are available at both stations but not on the trains.

Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times. They should not be allowed on the seats in the trains.

Pushchairs and bicycles are welcomed onto the trains free of charge, but should be stowed in the guards van.

Weather permitting, our Bouncy Castle will be available on most operating days, free of charge to children under 10 years of age.

Wallingford Station provides facilities for disabled passengers including:
-Level access to assisted ticket office
-Ramp to station shop, platform and train
-If required, refreshments can be served on board the train.
-See fare chart for special concessions for disabled Visitors and Carers.

Cholsey Station is served by First Great Western trains. Please see the "Find Us" page for further details.

Fares

Our fares vary depending on the event and whether your train is steam or diesel hauled. The following fares are given as a guide only and apply to diesel hauled trains:

-Adult Return: from £6.00
-Child Return (5-16 Years): from £3.00
-Disabled Child (under 16) and Carer: FREE
-Disabled Adult: Travel at Concession Rate and Carer Travels Free
-Holders of Heritage Railways Passes: FREE (does not apply at special events)
-Children under 12 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult

2009- June Onwards

06 07 13 14 20 21 27 28 June - 'The Bunk- 50 Years' - Anniversary Steam Trains

To celebrate 50 years since the last steam hauled services ran, we have a visiting GWR 'autotrain' on the weekend of the 13 14 June 2009.

A chance to relive the heyday of the Bunk Line.

The picture shows Pannier 6430 on the Llangollen Railway, which will be hauling the autocoach.

25 26 July - Ale on the Rail Weekend

Enjoy a pint aboard the train

Enjoy Cask Real Ale from local Breweries, and our 5oth Anniversary Bunk Ale, available in limited edition bottles. Served on board the trains in the Brake (middle) Coach .

16 August - Trains on a Summer Sunday

05 06 September - Wallingford BunkFest

All aboard the singing train!

Join the singing trains for Wallingford's Annual festival of music, dance, steam and beer located at various locations around Wallingford including Wallingford Station. Real Ale will be served on board trains in the Brake (middle) Coach. Try our special bottled Ale.


13 September- Book Sale

Trains running all day, with books on sale at Wallingford Station.

The picture shows a previous visiting locomotive No.813 in 2006.

26 27 September- Nursery Rhyme Weekend

31 October, 01 November- Spooky Halloween Trains

Ghosts


Dress up if you care, be there if you dare!

Watch out for ghosts, rattling bones and spiders of different sizes to meet all tastes. Look out for the spooky characters along both sides of the line to Cholsey and back. Beware of the Witch distributing Special Halloween Spooky Bags on the train to all children under 8years.

5 6 12 13 19 20 December 2009- Santa Specials

See Santa on the train

The Cholsey and Wallingford Railway always celebrate Christmas in a traditional and family friendly way, so why not join us on our Special Santa Trains? Santa will ride with you on the train visiting children during the journey. Each child up to the age of 8 will receive a gift from Santa: adults will receive a hot drink and a mince pie at Wallingford Station.
