Please scroll down below for details of our operating days for 2010.

Whilst it is intended to operate as advertised, all services, events and fares may be altered due to prevailing circumstances, with or without notice. Please telephone our recorded information line if you wish to check before arranging your visit.


Trains depart at the following times in 2010, unless advertised otherwise:

Facilities

Tickets may be purchased at either station. At Wallingford, there is a museum (temporarily closed for refurbishment until Spring 2010) and souvenir shop with second-hand books and a good range of souvenirs. Light refreshments are available at the Trackside Café with adjoining picnic area. The Museum is housed in this historic Cambrian &10;Railway coach

Parking is available at both stations, with free off-road parking at Wallingford.

Toilets are available at both stations but not on the trains.

Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times. They should not be allowed on the seats in the trains.

Pushchairs and bicycles are welcomed onto the trains free of charge, but should be stowed in the guards van.

Weather permitting, our Bouncy Castle will be available on most operating days, free of charge to children under 10 years of age.

Wallingford Station provides facilities for disabled passengers including:
-Level access to assisted ticket office
-Ramp to station shop, platform and train
-If required, refreshments can be served on board the train.
-See fare chart for special concessions for disabled Visitors and Carers.

Cholsey Station is served by First Great Western trains. Please see the "Find Us" page for further details.

Our fares vary depending on the event and whether your train is steam or diesel hauled. Higher fares may be charged for special events (including Santa Specials & Halloween):

2010 Operating Days

03 04 05 April 2010- Ivor the Engine

Ivor the Engine- Copyright 2007- Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin www.licensingbydesign.co.uk&10;

Ivor the Engine will be steaming between Cholsey and Wallingford over the weekend. Come along to meet those favourite characters such as "Jone's the Steam".

The event will feature a full size Ivor the Engine locomotive, with his memorable signature whistles. Ivor appears by permission of Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin.

25 April 2010- St George's Day Trains

Enjoy the best of British, with a bottle of ale on board our British built trains!

02 03 May 2010- Bank Holiday Plant Sale

Stock up your garden for the summer at our TWO Day Plant Sale, featuring a wide selection of plants for you to choose from at discount prices.
 

15 16 May 2010 - Guinness Weekend

Guinness train at Winterbrook

Enjoy a pint of the Black Stuff served on board the train (middle coach), hauled by one of our three Heritage Diesels from the Guinness Park Royal Brewery. Our other Heritage Diesels may be viewed as a static display. Guinness is a trademark of DIAGEO Great Britain.

30 31 May 2010 - Teddy Bear's Weekend

Previous visiting loco 0-6-0-ST Errol Lonsdale

Free travel for all children under 8 who bring a favourite teddy. The picture shows a previous visiting steam loco "Cumbria" in 2009.

12 13 June 2010 - Senior Citizens' Weekend

OAPs travel free when accompanied by one full fare paying adult.

The picture shows one of our 2008 visiting locomotives, LBSCR "Martello".

20 June 2010 - Father's Day

Fathers travel half price when accompanied by full fare paying children.

03 July 2010 - Trains for Rugfest

Let the train take the strain and travel to this great music and beer festival, located just a short walk from the station. Change from mainline trains at Cholsey.

10 11 July 2010 - Ale on the Rail Weekend

Enjoy a pint aboard the train

Enjoy Cask and Bottled Real Ale from local Breweries, served on board the trains in the Brake (middle) Coach Bar .

04 05 September 2010 - Singing Steam Trains with the Wallingford BunkFest

All aboard the singing train!

Join the singing trains for Wallingford's Annual festival of music, dance and beer located at various locations around Wallingford including Wallingford Station. Real Ale will be served on board trains in the Brake (middle) Coach. Try our special bottled Ale.

12 September 2010- Book Sale

Trains running all day, with books on sale at Wallingford Station.

The picture shows a previous visiting locomotive No.813 in 2006.

25 26 September 2010- Nursery Rhyme Weekend

Diesel hauled trains. Bring your favourite Nursery Rhyme along.

30 31 October 2010- Spooky Halloween Trains

Ghosts


Dress up if you care, be there if you dare!

Watch out for ghosts, rattling bones and spiders of different sizes to meet all tastes. Look out for the spooky characters along both sides of the line to Cholsey and back. Beware of the Witch distributing Special Halloween Spooky Bags on the train to all children under 8years.

4 5 11 12 18 19 December 2010- Santa Specials

See Santa on the train

The Cholsey and Wallingford Railway always celebrate Christmas in a traditional and family friendly way, so why not join us on our Special Santa Trains? Santa will ride with you on the train visiting children during the journey. Each child up to the age of 8 will receive a gift from Santa: adults will receive a hot drink and a mince pie at Wallingford Station.
